Why join?

The voices of people who are both multicultural and LGBTQ+ are often missing from policies and practices on ageing in Australia.

We want to change that.
Through sharing your stories and/or photographs.
Through imagining your ageing futures.

Option 1:
Individual Interview(s)

Want to share your thoughts and experiences at your own time and pace?
Take part in 1-3 online individual interviews to share your hopes and fears of ageing.

Interview one is on your general experiences and ageing hopes and fears.
Interviews two and three (optional) are photo-based interviews where you take and discuss photographs based on aspects of ageing in Australia.

You will receive $15 as a token of appreciation for each interview.

[Closed] Option 2:
Group Photo-Journey

Want to connect with other multicultural LGBTQ+ people?

Join this online group photo-journey. You will be taking photographs on your ageing hopes and fears and discussing them with the group.

Group photo-journey will take place on five Sat afternoons from 15 May to 12 June

You will receive $50 as a token of appreciation.

Join us if you

  • are from a multicultural background (including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander)
  • identify as LGBTQ+
  • are aged 50 and above
  • live in Australia and want to grow old here
  • can use or learn video conferencing software (e.g., Zoom)
  • have a phone/digital camera for photo-based interviews and photo-journey

Public Exhibition

We will be holding an online and physical photo exhibition at the end of the project. If you  participate in the photo-based interviews or the group photo-journey, you can select your photographs to be featured.

All participants are welcome to attend the exhibition. We hope to use findings from the project to inform policies and practices on ageing in Australia.
